By far the busiest racing event of the year, the Royal Ascot receives around 300,000 visitors.

Love a bit of history? The Royal Ascot began in 1711 when Queen Anne rode her horse from Windsor Castle and was like: “This would be a sick place for horse racing and big hats.” (kind of) Anyway, the iconic royal procession has been a revered part of the races since 1825!

On Tuesday 16 June 2pm, the Royal Procession begins, with the Queen and the Royal Family arriving in horse-drawn carriages

Need to brush up on your royal etiquette? Here’s some pointers: - Make sure you stand when the Queen stands, and the correct way to address her is: Your Majesty. - Drink tea like a royal: use your thumb and index finger to pinch the handle, then use your middle finger to support the bottom of the cup.

The Royal Enclosure is next level fancy. Invitation only, this is a private affair with a very strict dress code. Women dress modestly with hats or headpieces – there are strictly no fascinators allowed, and dresses and tops must have straps of one inch or greater.

As for the rest of us, the Village Enclosure boasts a range of stands, bars and entertainment, and you can get away with dressing a bit more casually. The Windsor enclosure is another option if you want to be in the heart of the racecourse action. But if you want to go all out, then the Queen Anne enclosure is where it’s at. The dress code is pretty strict, so make sure your outfit fits the bill. The official Royal Ascot style guide will be out on Tuesday 3 March, so keep your eyes peeled.
