Squad Goals: Life Tips & Ambitions | #ThisIsFamily

This is family

For us, SS19 is all about family. Biological or chosen, the modern family comes in all shapes and sizes and one third of our boy squad, O’Shea, definitely agrees. “Friends are the family you choose. We’ve connected deeper than family in some ways.”

The model trio, made up of O’Shea, Aaron and Junior (left to right) all met in Paris 2017 but O’Shea and Aaron have been best mates since primary school. And they’re definitely not just pretty faces. Their energy is magnetic and having come from tough beginnings, they share the same goal – to make their lives different to how they started. We caught up on set to find out what drives and inspires them…

What would be your roles in the family?

Aaron: I’d be the dad.

Junior: He’d definitely be the dad. I’m the child.

O’Shea: I think I’d be the mum for some reason. I’m in touch with my femininity.

What makes your family unique?

O’Shea: We’ve all come from tough beginnings and we all want to make it. We’re ambitious and driven to make our lives different from how they were.

Junior: We’re different people too, but when we come together it’s like one big superhero.

Aaron: It’s like the misfits - we bring out the best in each other, it’s love.

What would you want people to say about you?

Junior: Sensational.

Aaron: Honest

O’Shea: Ambitious.

“We’re like the misfits – we bring out the best in each other, it’s love.”

Who inspires you?

O’Shea: My foster carer, Jennifer, who looked after me from the age of ten to eighteen - she’s my hero. She taught me manners, respect and to respect women and I think that’s something young boys need to learn growing up.

Junior: I’d say my mum, she’s driven, she’s positive and makes the best out of what we’ve got.

Aaron: Yeah it would be my mum. She’s the most hardworking person I know other than myself she taught me what I know just by watching, admiring and looking at the reason why she does things.

What makes you happy?

Aaron: Making other people happy. Putting a smile on someone’s face.

Junior: It’s a bit cliché but seeing other people’s happiness. I’m very happy alone and have found my own happiness.

O’Shea: Happiness for me is being comfortable. You don’t really need too much to be happy - I’m happiest when I’m with family and friends.
